A letter from the founder
Six spreadsheets and a whiteboard.
Turning disconnected business data into live reports and operational tools | Adam Rowles, founder.

Sales figures live in six places. Customer data is pieced together from three systems and six spreadsheets, and the exceptions go up on a whiteboard because otherwise nobody else would know. The ERP that was meant to fix it all cost many thousands of pounds and mostly created more data, faster.
This was the pattern I kept seeing back in 2018: more data, but no shared operational view.
“Every time you ask for a different type of report, it’s built from scratch, the data never quite ties up with the other reports, and by the time you get it, the need has passed.”
— The Tesylate Manifesto
Borrowing wisdom
The fix, it turned out, was mostly already written. Traction by Gino Wickman, The Four Disciplines of Execution, Measure What Matters, Atomic Habits: the ideas behind Tesylate are tested, and most of them are not mine. Those books agree on something short enough to put here. Give each department two to three lag measures (results, after the event) and the two to three lead measures (daily activity) that drive them. Cut the list by Keep, Kill, Combine until the metrics balance. Then put the score where the team can see it, live. Sean Covey tells of a match where a storm blew the scoreboard down and the game went flat, and you will see the same thing in a bunch of kids kicking a ball around a park against the end-of-term house tournament.
“People play differently when they know the score.”
— Sean Covey, The Four Disciplines of Execution
Fixing the disconnects
So how do you choose the metrics? And who can sort the integrations in days, not months? That’s where we come in. We help you agree the measures, connect and validate the systems behind them, then build the scorecards and dashboards your teams use.
A scoreboard only works if it is live and if it is right, and in 2018 your two options were an empty reporting tool you would still have to fill in yourself, or somebody to set it up for you with no proven process behind them. Providers will tell you that five minutes from a transaction hitting your system to the dashboard on the wall is impossible. With the right skills and software it normally isn’t, and it is the standard we now build to.
That’s why I founded Tesylate: to be the vendor I couldn’t find.
What we do for you
We check your systems against the systems connector directory (277 connectors, from Xero to NetSuite), bring the supported data into one model, and show you exactly what your chosen AI tool can ask it.
We build the scorecards, the dashboards and the screens on the office wall, and we keep changing them as your business changes. Every metric drills down to the transaction underneath it, right there in the portal.
You keep your ERP. You need no technical skills. And the same model now takes questions in plain English: ask Claude or ChatGPT how last week went and drill into the answer.
Our manifesto
“There is a way to have everything in order, it’s not easy but it is doable.”
— The Tesylate Manifesto
The process is typically a day offsite with your leadership team, a survey with your staff and an open discussion about what numbers matter. We then connect the systems you approve, validate the model with your team, document the first release and onboard and train your team.
AI reporting from your business systems and data, done-for-you and ready to use. That’s what we do.

Our mantra for success
- Two to three lag measures per department, and the two to three lead measures that drive them. Keep, Kill, Combine.
- A small, agreed set of weekly measures that each team can act on, shared at every management meeting. The right number depends on the business.
- The score must be live. Five minutes or less, transaction to dashboard, is the standard we build to.
- Whatever the dashboard shows must tie up with your systems. A number nobody can drill into is a rumour.
- Reports are never finished. Yours will change as your business changes, and that is what the support SLA is for.
- You need NO technical skills. None. The entire technical piece is our job.
